Back in the day I guess places like this were sprayed with insecticide so picnickers can revel in the great outdoor in comfort.

But today, we are finally understanding how “ecosystems” work and finding out that we should not have introduced chemicals like we did in the past, including the so-called "green revolution" worldwide in the 60s and 70s when chemical fertilizers promised that no people on earth shall ever go hungry again. That program is now deemed an environmental disaster.

So at the same time that we are today enjoying the benefits of undisturbed environments, we are also finding our place in Nature. I just wanted to say that because by looking at the pictures I took a viewer might not know about the “annoyances” that go with actually being there -- mosquitoes in this case -- and see only the peace and tranquility that the landscape brings. And so a viewer who is not slapping his or her neck all the time might feel “deceived”.

But for one like me who is overindulged by modernity, thinking about Nature gives the experience new meaning. In living in accordance with Nature, maybe all that what we are doing is putting spirit in all that we do.
