Otisville July 4th Fireworks
July 4, 2010
We went to the town of Otisville to watch July 4th fireworks.

There is a July 4th fireworks show in just about every town including ours but we chose to go to Otisville on the invitation of Mrs. Grace Roeder. She is the tour guide at Hill Hold Museum. One of her daughters was having a party. They had many guests at her veterinary hospital where there was a great view of the fireworks.

Upon our arrival, Mrs. Roeder introduced us to some of her family members.
Her grandson in Mrs. Roeder's arms.
Her son-in-law, petting their deaf dog. The dog has appeared in some well-known TV commercials.
Mrs. Roeder gave us a tour of the veterinary hospital with many parts still under construction. Her grandson is in the foreground.
Showing us the porch.
From the porch we get a view of the town parking lot where people from all over the county, including us, parked to see the fireworks.
This whole barn will soon become Roeder's Ark Veterinary Hospital. Mrs. Roeder was very hospitable. She kept excusing herself as she was going to “get the cake” but always ended up introducing us to one of her many children. Her children, BTW, including the veterinarian-daughter, are within a few years our age. After taking in the sight of her daughter's barn from outside, she had what appeared to be the look of joy when she said, “...and we used to live in a small three-bedroom house.” I suppose any mother who had sent more than a few kids through college would quickly understand.
We left Mrs. Roeder saying we had to prepare for the fireworks show and also to not take up too much of her time entertaining her daughter's guests. She was very pleased that we
The town fair has stalls selling hotdogs and drinks, a radio dj, and some offering games.
There is a long line of traffic in the distance still waiting to get into the parking lot.
Dusk is approaching and there is still a long line at the hotdog stand.
We have our dinner. Vi cooked hamburgers and I made the sandwiches.
Finally, it’s dark...
...and the fireworks began.
All the fireworks pictures are taken by Vi with her Nikon P90. She simply mounted her camera on a tripod and set it to its “Fireworks” setting.
Vi wiggled her camera a bit in this shot.
There’s big traffic going home but we were lucky. We were near the front of traffic and spent only about 15 minutes in it. We wouldn't be surprised if others spent up to two hours. On the way out we took one last picture of the barn from our car window.
